Twitter joins the Linux Foundation

Twitter joins the Linux Foundation

will join the Foundation as a “silver member” officially on Tuesday, at the start of the conference LinuxCon North America and CloudOpen.

Silver Membership costs about USD $15,000 a year. Twitter uses Linux to run the microblogging service, which processes about 400 million tweets a day. Although it has made a contribution to the kernel, the company has a number of projects and other contributions in his name.

The manager open source Twitter, Chris Aniszczyk said that one of the reasons that Linux has been used successfully in the business is having the ability to be highly adaptable. “By joining the Linux Foundation, we support an organization that is important to us and work with a community that Linux is moving as fast as we improve Twitter,” he said.
