Video: The monkeys also are angry with unequal pay
The Dutch ethologist and primatologist Frans de Waal made a few years ago an experiment showing the germ of the protests that are happening in the world in recent years: The monkeys also react angry when they witness a strong inequality.
The study is quite simple: Two Capuchin monkeys in neighboring cages (known to all from the same place) should perform a task simply pass a stone-researcher and change them ‘pay’ sliced cucumbers.
However, when one of the monkeys begin to pay arbitrarily with grapes, a fruit most appreciated by both monkeys, the other reacts to injustice of receiving cucumbers for the same work:
