VLC will Windows 8 version thanks to Kickstarter
A few weeks ago we mentioned that the developers of the popular media player VLC were raising funds to create a version for Windows 8 . This weekend, the project had on Kickstarter reached the goal, surpassing the 40,000 pounds ($ 64,500 USD) they needed.
Although users could still use Windows 8 version of VLC that already exists for Windows 7, Windows users RT – that works on ARM processors – would not have this possibility , since the software is not compatible. Thus, the VLC team decided to create something new also adopt the proposed design style Microsoft for its ecosystem, and also can run on PCs, tablets and smartphones with Windows.
The team expects to complete the application within three months. In the meantime, has revealed some sketches of how the app will look like, including as always support a wide range of formats and the ability to play DVDs and Blu-ray unencrypted.
The extra money is collected after passing the finish will go to fund additional features to the program, including support for the camera, support for connected devices, SmartGlass of Microsoft and other things.
