Our post is divided into two sections, one to teach you how to start the Windows 7 computer from a USB, and the other for you to learn how to boot a pendrive or external disk. Come on, let’s get to work.

Steps to start Windows 7 PC from bootable external USB

In this section we will learn how to start a PC from a bootable external USB, for this we leave some steps below that will guide us during the process. We must bear in mind that to install Windows 7 it is necessary to meet the following characteristics:

  • 1 GHz processor (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • 1 GB RAM memory (for 32-bit versions), or 2 GB from memory RAM (for 64-bit versions)
  • 16 GB hard disk space (for versions of 32 bits), or 20 GB of disk space (for versions of 64 bit)
  • Graphics card with stand Directx 9 and with driver WDDM 1.0 or higher

But, if we want to use Windows XP compatibility mode in Windows 7, the minimum requirements are raised to the following:

  • 2 GB from memory RAM
  • 15 GB additional hard disk space

Enter BIOS

For start a computer from a Booted USB We only have to turn off the computer and turn it on by pressing the key that the system itself guides us to enter the BIOS, if this is not your case you can use the following keys F11, F12, F9, F8, Del, Tab. For each attempt, the PC will have to be turned off and on until it enters the BIOS.

Already being in the BIOS we will select the name of our device with the help of the up and down keys, and typing Enter. The entire installation process and the protocol required by the system will begin.

Complete the installation

Now to finish we just have to fill out a small form that will be necessary to install our windows 7. We will see in the window the options to choose the Language, time and date format, and keyboard.

choose language and date

Then it will ask us to select an option, of two that are shown, but since we only want to install Windows, we click on the first option. Now we accept the terms and conditions and click next.

Partition the disk

A window will open, with two options but we select only the one below that says “Custom (advanced)”.

We will see that then he asks us select the partition where we are going to install the operating system. Many computers have more than one partition, but for us it is better to have only one, so if you think like us, delete the others by selecting the partition and clicking “Remove“.

There will be only one partition left, so that we must format it and for this we select the partition and click on the option “Format” and to install the operating system in the partition we just select the partition again and click next.

install partition

Finish the process

Let’s see what A window appears with all the process that is being carried out, there we only have to wait. When this culminates, it will ask us to restart the PC and click on “Restart”, although if we neglect it, it will restart automatically.

When the computer starts with the settings, we have to enter our username for the computer. The password option is not mandatory so we can leave it blank.

This is the moment where many despair and the truth is we do not understand why. Good, It will ask us to enter the product key, if we do not have it we can skip this step. For activate Windows without password The product can be made using patches or also known as activators.

Then we click on “Recommended configuration”, we select our time and date, our network connection and wait for the configuration process to complete. Once the process is finished, we can use our computer as we want, we hope you enjoy it.

How to create a bootable installer pendrive for Windows 7?

Here we will teach you the steps to follow so that you can transform your ordinary USB into a bootable installer pendrive for Windows 7. Pay close attention and do not skip any lines of what is.

First it will be necessary that you have a USB pendrive with a minimum capacity of 4GB since this will be used to decompress the operating system file. Taking this into account, we tell you that here you will find two fairly simple methods to boot your pendrive, say no more and let’s get started:

With Command Prompt

In this method, the USB is booted with the help of the command prompt using the commands that we leave below to achieve a bootable pendrive without the need for external programs.

Enter the Command Prompt. To start with the help of our keyboard we press the Windows + R keys (both at the same time) to open a box like the following: When it appears we write in the available field “CMD”And press Enter, and in this way the command prompt will open.

run cmd command

Format USB. In the window that opened we write the command “DISKPART” and then we press the enter key. At that moment we will see a dialog box which will request administrator permissions to continue with the process and we grant it by clicking on “To accept”.

write diskpart

We wait a few seconds and write in the box that opens for us “LIST DISK” and we type in enter. It will load a small list of available disks, mostly disk 0 is the disk of the computer, that is to say that for nothing in the world it should be touched.

In our case we only have two disks available, as we already mentioned disk 0 is the computer disk and disk 1 is the external disk (USB) where we will unzip the ISO file. If you have a list of three or more discs, you will recognize yours by its capacity.

Then we write “SELECT DISK #” in our case it is 1 and we write “SELECT DISK 1” and we click on enter.

We await approval by the system and write “CLEAN”. With this command, everything that exists on the selected disk will be cleaned.

After this the system will tell us that the disk has been cleaned satisfactorily and we write the command “CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY” and we type in enter. With this command a partition will be created on the disk but this will be the only one that the system will recognize, that is, the main one.

create partition primary

It will show us another notice telling us that the specified partition has been created. Then we write “ACTIVE” and we give enter to continue. The command “ACTIVE” it is to bring the partition online since it was previously created but not activated.

Then we write “FORMAT FS = NTFS” to dictate to the system which is the format we want for our USB and we press enter. This process can take a few minutes. As we can see in the image, this must complete up to 100% to terminate the operation.

When this culminates we proceed to write “ASSING”, we press enter and finally “EXIT” and enter to exit the system “DISKPART”.

Booting pendrive. Already in this last step in the window which we write “DISKPART” we will write xcopy F: *. * / s / e / f h: / here we will have to substitute the letter F for the drive where the CD reader is located and the letter H for the letter of the drive where the USB is located and press enter. This will take a few minutes so you better make yourself comfortable when you do.

When this process ends we just write EXIT to exit the entire system and we already have a USB stick with Windows 7. If this first method does not convince you much Well, surely the second yes, since the method below is shorter and much easier.

With Windows USB / DVD Download Tool

In this method, you will need the help of the program that you will need to download to your computer since it will summarize all the work of the previous method in a few clicks. The program we will use is Windows USB / DVD Download Tool, and to download it we will have to go to the following link by clicking on the

Download Windows USB / DVD Download Tool

Once the program has been downloaded, it is executed in administrator mode so as not to have any inconvenience when we are using it.

Boot the USB flash drive. Once the program has started, it will ask us to locate the ISO file of the Windows 7 operating system, which we will do by clicking on “Browse” and after having located it, click on “Next” or “Next”. It will also ask us to select the disk where we will unzip the ISO file and click on “Next”.

Install ISO Windows 7

With these simple steps, the process that will make our external memory device a bootable USB will begin to install Windows 7. The process can take several minutes, so you can go to the bathroom or watch TV while you wait.
