Microsoft shows a screen that conveys the sense of touch

The research line has several projects under way, including one concerning robotics. In the electronics TechFest event, researchers presented their prototype touchscreen TouchMover baptized. Microsoft is expected to officially announce it soon.

Haptic technology refers to phenomena related to the perception of touch. When a user moves the finger on the screen, feel vibrations, having the impression that actually touches the object displayed on the screen.

Behind all this lies a robotic system to reproduce sensations through vibration and infrared signals. By varying the intensity and frequency of these signals, the media may for example simulate textures, shapes, spots, strength, etc.

As you can see in the video, the screen is integrated into a kind of mobile bellows can play the of space when objects move.

The brand IBM sees this technology as one of the five innovations that will change our lives in the next five years.
